This was honestly a very unique mechanic which overall made the games enjoyable, am very curious to see how else it could be implemented to stay fresh.

(+1)

This was an interesting dive into Japanese folklore. However, it also has some major game-breaking bugs. Namely, falling through the map.

Thank you so much for playing Gedalya2K!

(+2)

One of the greatest challenges I've had to face yet.

(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and your determination in solving our puzzles kieran_schwartz! Your playthrough was very entertaining!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :{D

This was such a unique experience and it is killing me that there isn't more to play! I wanted to find an interesting horror game to play gor my youtube channel and this beyond provided it. The needle mechanic is super cool and was implemented so cleverly, its different uses and lack of ability to damage big scary skeleton lady while still being able to delay her or warn you she is coming makes for a truly original concept. Thank you to the entire staff for providing such a cool title and I can't wait to see more!

Here is my Ginkgo experience!

We're so glad you enjoyed Ginkgo HotLettuceTV! Your playthrough was very exciting to watch!

Easily one of the most unique horror games I've played this year! Loved the idea of having helpful and not so helpful yokai too, lovely idea to mix those together.

Having a needle and thread gameplay system is not something I thought I would ever see, but you know what, it works really well! I did have a couple of issues, but nothing I wasn't able to overcome!

It did take me a little while to get used to the concept too, but again, once I got the hang of it, it wasn't so bad. It can be a bit disconcerting to be able to highlight up interactable objects when you're too far away to do so though, that threw me off a couple of time!

Overall this was an inventive, clever, equally scary and cute little demo and I am very hyped to see more of this in the future =)

(+1)

Thank you for your detailed and kind feedback MikeyBlighe! Your note on the interactable highlight was especially helpful, and our team has been looking into it for a smoother experience in the future!

(+2)

(+2)

Its an amazing game with an original play style. Its refreshing to see a horror game that isn't a PT clone or find x number of whatever to escape. Loved the aesthetics and the music. Can't wait for the full release!

We're so glad you enjoyed Ginkgo jdferguson09! One of our biggest goals with Ginkgo was making an experience none of our devs had experienced before, so your review is exactly what we wanted to hear!

Something I loved that I don’t see too many comments about is the house. kind of reminds me of the home in What Remain’s Of Edith Finch in the sense that they’re both enormous and whimsical with hidden passages and rooms. Can’t wait to see the rest of the game!

What Remains of Edith Finch was one of our narrative + design inspirations!! A great catch Alprazolam :)

(+2)

I loved this game ... of course it lacks a little more terror, but the mechanics with the needle and the small puzzles give it that touch that many games today lack ... I would say that they made the game a little more dangerous monster but for the rest I loved it ... I leave a small gameplay that I make on my channel and when it comes out I will play it 100% sure .. keep it up :) (jaja the gameplay is in spanish xD)

Thank you for the playthrough sackexilon! A few of our team members speak Spanish, and this was very fun to watch!

It feels good to finally play a great horror game even if it is only a demo. Not only a great horror game but a great game in general with original game play and story with puzzles that weren't hard but fun which makes up for the lack of challenge.

Camera, movement, actions, just about everything felt very quick and fluid except for the crouching. That was a little bit janky. It seemed like you went from standing to crouching a little too quickly and crouch allowed you to walk through a few barriers that I dont think you were intended to do.

The needle made the most satisfying swish swash swoosh sound I think I may have ever heard, if you dont know what im talking about pay the freehundred dollars and check it out just for the sound alone. I was a little upset that you didnt have the option to do different kind of sewing techniques like a running, basting, or even a back stitch...wtf dev you need to get your shit together or no one will want to play this. Also the precision needed to hit a few of the object was either very specific or I suck at aiming.

I really enjoyed the sound. Background sounds and enemies were amazing and the only complaint I have is the clip clopping of you walking was a little out a little heavy but all in all it was amazing...just like the game...just like you are.

Thank you so much for playing and for the detailed feedback boozyoldman! We're so glad you enjoyed the game, and love the idea of having more complicated stitches!

Ginkgo

Created by Jaboblu
-----------------------

The best way to describe this game is it is a work of art. Sound design, assets, story, unique mechanics and colors really brought out this game for me nice work.

Our team was absolutely touched by this fanart Jaboblu!! You captured the spirit of our lantern yokai perfectly. We're so glad you enjoyed our game :)

Im glad I did it justice, I really love the concept of this game and I would love to see more of it. Thanks for taking a look at my art, it makes my day to know that someone likes my art. Keep up the good work and can't wait for more of Ginkgo.

Wow! Everything about this horror game was great! I liked the music, graphics, atmosphere, interface, and mechanics of the game. A lot of other horror games use mechanics that are slightly repetitive (e.g. flashlight, lighter, camera, phone, etc) but the use of a sewing needle in this game was very different and unique. Plus the story made sense and was touching. I can't wait until the full version is released, keep up the awesome work! I've made a gameplay for this game if anyone is interested in watching. Thank you for your time!

(+1)

We're so glad you had a good experience LittleLotusKitty, and really appreciate your positive feedback! The team especially liked to hear your thoughts on our interface, as we've worked to make it as minimal and sleek as possible :)

You really did a great job with the game demo so far, minimal and sleek is definitely better than overly complex and convoluted. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work! :D

(+3)

This game was amazing! i loved the music and the polished feel to it the unique stitching machanic was really cool and the monster/ demon was frightening! heres my playthrough if ya wanna see.

Thank you for this awesome playthrough Maskly! If you liked our music, make sure you keep an eye out for our Steam release on June 26th, as it will come with some extra exclusive content!

I'll definitely keep an eye out!

Pour les Francophones !

Merci beaucoup pour jouer Doflanico!!

A very unique game with a wonderful mechanic sewing the world together following the path of your late mother to uncover some humbling home truths along the way.

The aesthetics of the game are incredible with some wonderful fire effects and detailed Yokai which made the game feel more immersive and the spirits more life like, there is also some good soundtracks especially when you are being chased by the creepy abomination!

There were a few little bugs regarding sewing the bridge together where the target circles do not quite match up to the edges of the fabric and even when it is all stitched together you still could not walk over it. There was also a bug relating to the puzzle where you have to lower and raise the platform as it did not always cut/join the string.

Bugs aside the game is a really nice concept and was a really great experience and a joy to play, it will be interesting to see how this game develops as it really is a game like no other.

Thank you so much for your feedback and playthrough NaughtyNelly! We've been putting a lot of work into making fabric sewing feel more natural after reviewing your and many other players' experiences, and hope that our Steam release on June 26th has the accuracy you're looking for!

(+3)

Wow, an experience i won't forget anytime soon, give my elaborate opinion at the end of the video!

Thank you so much for playing LillyLow! We loved to hear your thoughts at the end, especially those about creature design. The development and concepting of our yokai was some of the hardest work we did on Ginkgo—we went through several versions to make sure they fit naturally in the rest of the world while having their own unique charm.

(+3)

Amazing game! My gameplay here

Thank you so much for playing and attaching your vid HenrykT! The whole team loves seeing how our players react to Ginkgo's unique mechanics and world :)

(+1)

It was pleasrue. If I can advide: make bigger and longer game inside kind of labirynth with deadly traps and different zones. Then it will be even more lovely!

(+4)

Honestly, without a doubt one of my favourite game mechanics ever. I would love so much more of the sewing needle mechanic. I can't wait to see how this game progresses. Some bugs but that is to be expected on an Early Access game. I encounter where sometimes the needle and thread did want to take and after a couple of times of repeating the process it would work. Luckily it was where I was being chased. The creature scared me. I can't wait to see where the story leads to.

Thank you so much for playing, and working through bugs Zombikittie! We're working towards as smooth of an experience as possible, and will hopefully crush more bugs ASAP!

(+3)

By far the coolest comment I can make about this game is the needle/ sewing mechanic. So fluid, so aesthetically pleasing, and just plain fun! I would love to see a boss fight that is similar to the Spider Queen in Okami. The only critique I have is the chase sequence after the sneaking segment. Felt rushed, and confusing on whether I was meant to use the needle or just plain run. Overall, it is definitely a game I'm keeping an eye on for the full release!

Thank you so much for playing Hanabal! And thank you for your feedback—be sure to keep an eye on Ginkgo's socials for some exciting content updates soon ;)

(+3)

I loved this game and i cant wait till its finished!!

Thank you so much for playing FlabbyDevotee! It was great to see you stealth across the chase yokai sequences!

(+3)

It's really cool when a game's theme ties into its mechanics so the whole joining and cutting of tapestries (or family relations) and just the sewing as a whole is great. Honestly, can't wait to see how they expand the puzzles, so much potential. Here's my playthrough if anyone's interested:

(+1)

Thank you so much for playing SiXing! And great catch on the symbolism of the tapestry :)

(+2)

Nvm i think i fixed it!! bc now i signed into my account and there is no errors like last time!! :

We're glad to hear you were able to solve this issue AlphaShadowWolf! Have fun playing :)

Hey some reason it says i dont have the perms to download it

(+3)

I love Japanese horror games so I knew this was going to be good. The needle concept was unique and the use of the needle to solve puzzles reminded me of Zelda (all time fav game) so thats some browney points. I got stuck at the end of the demo largely because I played an older version of the game , so would love to revisit once things improve over time.

Thanks for playing itspandabum! Our team is constantly working to polish the experience and crush as many bugs as we can find, so a bug-free build is (hopefully) on its way!

Brilliant, I actually played the demo again and the ending worked, but I'm actually looking forward to the full game as the gaming mechanism is super fun!

Very cool and gorgeous game. The gameplay and idea is extremely unique! I hope you get the chance to check out my video below :)

Thank you so much for playing TheOdie! It was great to see you found our newest secret room :)

(+4)

Absolutely loved the game!! Very well done! The graphics and the art style of the game are beautiful, the music is wonderful and adds a great vibe to the game! The concept, the story and the storytelling of the game are absolutely awesome! I really like the sewing mechanic. It's very original and works very well! I didn't know what to expect when I first started playing the game, but I absolutely fell in love with it. I had a lot of fun playing the game! I'm really looking forward to playing more of this! The only thing that I found myself having trouble with, was reading the dialogue. It dissapeared a little too fast, so I didn't quite catch everything. The thing they taught me in filmschool to avoid this, is to make sure you are able to read the text atleast three times on a normal pace. However that is literally the only thing in the game that I had a little bit of trouble with, the rest of the game is absolutely gorgeous and I love it! Absolutely well done!

(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback and playthrough Andy-R! Your notes about the dialogue have definitely been heard—our team has been hard at work on some extra narrative UI we hope to show in a future release!

Absolutely! That’s awesome! I’m looking to the full release!

(+3)

The moment i saw this game, i just had to try it... The art is so beautiful i could not let this one get away (i even got a beautiful approved stamp at the end part of the gameplay 😂 )

Even story wise, it was well executed.

Well done!

We're so glad to hear you had a good experience ThatGuyAlexier! Our art team worked incredibly hard to get Ginkgo's distinct and polished look!

(+3)

What a beautiful game. The story is so captivating, and the sewing mechanic is incredibly unique. All of that coupled with the terrifying monster made this an awesome experience.

Hi Adrionic! Thank you so much for playing! Your reactions to the Chase Yokai were great to watch :D

Absolutely adored this demo, it shows such promise already! Aesthetically amazing, the needle/thread mechanic is unique as far as I'm aware and it seems like it has a decent enough story. I was worried it'd be too scary for a big baby like myself, and it got me a few times when I was chased but it was such an enjoyable experience. I look forward to seeing the full release.  Edit: Feel free to check out my playthrough below! And to the developers, it may reveal a bug or two that I encountered. Thanks again for the wonderful game.

Nice to meet you. I found this game to be a lot of fun.

The mysterious atmosphere in the game world is also my personal favorite.I'm a bit of a sucker for action games, so I'm not sure I'll be able to clear it, but I'm very much looking forward to the day when the full version comes out!(If possible, it would be even better if there was a Japanese translation. That's just my own selfishness.....)

(+1)

Hi ituki_vt! Thank you so much for playing Ginkgo and for your feedback! The team is hard at work translating the game in a few languages, Japanese may just be one of them ;) Stay tuned for weekly updates!
